Course Overview

This course will provide you with several tools to help you develop and implement an effective health and safety program.  If you already have a health and safety program in place, perhaps this course will provide you with some additional ideas to consider or encourage you to make your existing program even better. 

This course is designed to help you develop a profitable strategy for handling occupational safety and health by describing four basic elements of a good safety and health program.

At the end of this course, you will be asked to take the Certification Test, which is designed to reinforce these concepts and to measure comprehension of the concepts presented in this program.

Course Objectives

The objectives of the ShipMateTM University  Web-Based Training Program on Effective Health and Safety Programs are to:

•Encourage you to make a sincere commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment for yourself and your coworkers;
•Describe the four basic elements of an effective safety and health program;
•Provide you with tools, references and other materials to help you develop and implement a profitable occupational safety and health program at your facility;
•Describe OSHA’s requirements for reporting and recordkeeping; and

•Reinforce the need for initial and recurrent training.


A detailed examination is available and a Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants receiving 80% or better on the comprehensive exam.
