Course Overview

This course focuses on safe work practices for handling various types of automotive batteries including wet acid, sealed lead acid or absorbed glass mat, lithium ion and lithium metal batteries.

This course has two short learning modules, including:

•Types of Batteries & their Hazards

•Safe Handling Procedures

Course Objectives

The objectives of the ShipMateTM University Battery Handling Web-Based Training Program are to:

    •Describe some of the hazards associated with various types of batteries that are typically found in most automobiles and light trucks and other vehicles
    •Outline safe work practices for handling batteries or their components
    •Describe procedures to be taken in the event of an emergency involving a battery

A detailed examination is available and a Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants receiving 80% or better on the comprehensive exam.
